Projected Games · Digital-Physical IntegrationOpenbank | play to save
For Openbank's U.S. launch, Dentsu created Play to Save, two interactive games showing how the bank's 5% APY could help customers grow their savings. Visitors stepped onto an illuminated platform to play using a giant four-foot joystick, with their games projected onto towering screens (or buildings!) at events across the country.
Working from an established creative direction, I directed my team's 3D work, refining the lighting, materials, animation, and overall visual quality. We also designed the oversized joystick and platform, bringing a little arcade nostalgia into the real world.
The kicker: the games needed to look beautiful on towering screens while running smoothly on mobile phones. Links to the mobile versions were included in the wider marketing campaign, letting people play even if the activation never came to their city. We even caught some visitors practicing on their phones while waiting in line for the giant joystick.
